Bhubaneswar, Aug. 22 -- Doctors at SUM Ultimate Medicare, Bhubaneswar, have successfully treated a newborn girl who developed an exceptionally rare and life-threatening combination of severe heart failure, myocarditis, cardiogenic shock, acute liver failure and an extreme inflammatory response associated with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).

The baby, apparently healthy at birth, developed persistent crying, irritability and feeding difficulties on the 13th day of life before being referred to SUM Ultimate Medicare.

On admission, she was found to be in severe cardiac distress and subsequently developed cardiogenic shock, requiring mechanical ventilation and intensive cardiac support.
