Berlin, May 26 -- Stuttgart has signed midfielder Grischa Promel on a free transfer from Hoffenheim, handing the 31-year-old a contract until June 2029 as he returns to his home region, the club announced.
Promel becomes Stuttgart's first signing ahead of the 2026-27 season after four years at Hoffenheim. Born in Cannstatt and raised in nearby Esslingen, he grew up following Stuttgart from the stands, even though he never played for the club's academy.
"The wish to move to VfB has been inside me for a long time," Promel said in the club statement on Monday.
