Pune, March 13 -- Students of MIT Art, Design and Technology (ADT) University have once again launched a strong protest against the illegal dumping of garbage in the Mula-Mutha riverbed.
Around 6,000 students from the MIT education campus have intensified the "Garbage Ban" agitation, blocking tractor-trolleys carrying waste near the university entrance after the seven-day deadline given to local gram panchayats expired without any action.
For several years, about 35 to 40 tractor loads of garbage have allegedly been dumped daily into the riverbed by the Loni Kalbhor and Kadamwak Wasti gram panchayats and nearby villages.
