Dhami (Shimla), Oct. 22 -- In the hill village of Dhami, located around 30 km from Shimla, the air once again echoed with the sound of clashing stones on the second day of Diwali, a sight that might appear violent but holds traditional significance.

This centuries-old tradition, known as the 'Pathar Mela' (stone fair), is a ritual of faith where devotees from two clans hurl stones at each other to honour Goddess Bhadrakali.

This year too, the village square transformed into a symbolic battleground of devotion as participants from Jamogi and Katedu clans gathered at the Sati memorial ground in Chauraj village. For about 25 minutes, stones flew in the air in a fervent yet disciplined display of religious zeal.
