New Delhi, June 8 -- Indian stock markets on Monday extended their losing streak for a second consecutive session amid fresh tensions in West Asia.

At close, the Sensex was down 719.08 points or 0.97 percent at 73,524.26, while Nifty was down 243.70 points or 1.04 percent at 23,123.

Indian rupee witnessed a sharp fall, settling 77 paise lower at 95.71 per US dollar.

Among the sectors, all indices ended in negative territory with the Realty and Metal indices being worst performers. Other sectors like Auto, Consumer Durables, IT, Media, Infrastructure, Power, Energy and Oil & Gas sectors also fell during the session.
