New Delhi, Sept. 23 -- Indian Stock Markets on Wednesday rebounded, led by broad-based buying across sectors, barring IT stocks. Nifty reclaimed the 23,400-mark. Markets also reacted to the continued decline in oil prices for a sixth straight session.
At close, the Sensex was up 299.17 points or 0.40 percent at 74,828.25, and the Nifty was up 117.80 points or 0.50 percent at 23,446.80. Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices also rose 0.7 and 0.9 percent, respectively.
Among the sectors, metals led the sectoral gains surging 2.4 percent while Telecom, PSU banks, realty and FMCG rose more than 1 percent each. On the other hand, IT fell 0.8 percent and media slipped 0.5 percent.
