New Delhi, Aug. 7 -- The Indian Stock Markets on Friday ended lower with losses in financial stocks outweighing strong gains in other sectors like auto and IT shares.

At close, Sensex was down by 455.59 points, or 0.58 percent, at 78,499.17, while the Nifty fell 65.35 points, or 0.27 percent, to 24,570.65. Nifty Midcap 100 was up by 0.22pc, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 slipped 0.06pc.

Among the sectors, Nifty Financial Services, Consumer Durables, Chemicals, and Realty were in the losses while auto, IT, and metal stocks ended in the green.
