New Delhi, April 28 -- Though the Indian stock markets today pared losses from previous session, the BSE Sensex still ended lower by 416.72 points, or 0.54 percent, to 76,886.91, and the NSE Nifty also closed down by 97 points, or 0.40 percent, at 23,995.70.
Nifty Midcap index went up by 0.3 pc and the Smallcap index advanced 0.4 pc.
Among the sectors, PSU Bank index declined 2 pc, while the Private Bank and Auto indices fell 1 pc each, IT index dropped 0.7 pc and Realty index down 0.4 pc.
On the gaining side were Metal up by 0.5 pc, followed by Energy by 1.2 pc and Oil & Gas by 1.5 pc.
Shares of InterGlobe Aviation and SpiceJet declined, tracking a sharp rise in crude oil prices. IndiGo's stock fell over 2 pc to Rs 4,461.2 while SpiceJ...
