Vijayawada, July 4 -- Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K Atchannaidu on Saturday said that the government has taken steps on a war footing to contain the spread of 'White Gut' disease in the fish ponds.
Talking to the media here, he said the officials concerned were put on high alert after receiving information that symptoms of "White Gut" disease were being seen in shrimps in several aqua ponds across the State recently.
"We have started taking action on a war footing to contain the disease. The fisheries officials collected water, shrimp, feed and faecal samples from a pond located at Undi village and sent them to the Kaikaluru laboratory for testing," the Minister revealed.
