Bengaluru, March 6 -- Reiterating its commitment to prudent financial management, the Karnataka government has maintained strict fiscal discipline while remaining committed to implement welfare schemes and development programmes in the 2026-27 budget, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said during a press conference at his official residence Krishna on Friday.
The Chief Minister said the government has balanced welfare spending with financial prudence despite mounting pressures on state finances. He said that about Rs 1.21 lakh crore has been spent on various guarantee schemes so far, including Rs 52,000 crore allocated for the current financial year, while still adhering to fiscal responsibility norms over the last three years.
