Shimla, March 30 -- Himachal Pradesh government on Monday introduced a key amendment bill in the State Legislative Assembly proposing to extend the time limit for recovery of undervalued stamp duty from three years to ten years, while also streamlining concessions available to women in property transactions.

Titled the Indian Stamp (Himachal Pradesh Amendment) Bill, 2026, the legislation was tabled by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi during the Budget Session.

The proposed amendment seeks to address a long-standing administrative constraint wherein authorities currently have only three years from the date of property registration to initiate proceedings in cases of undervaluation.
