Chennai, Feb. 14 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday urgedExternal Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to take necessary steps to expeditethe repatriation of nine fishermen released by the Sri Lankan Court at the earliest.
In a Demi-Official letter to Dr Jaishankar, he drew his attention to a recent judgmentdelivered by the Sri Lankan Court in respect of the fishermen from Tamil Nadu whowere apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy.
The Jaffna Court tried a total of 12 fishermen on February 3, 2026--three fromMandapam, who were taken into custody on December 28, 2025 and ninefrom Mayiladuthurai apprehended on January 3, 2026.
