Chennai, Aug. 28 -- Pointing out that the 50 per cent tariff hike imposed by the US on Indian imports hashit the Tamil Nadu's exports hard, causing a trade impact of Rs 3,000 crore in the Textile hub of Tiruppur,Chief Minister M K Stalin today urged the union Government to provide immediate relief and structuralreforms to safeguard the industries and workers.
In a social media post, tagging a news story published in a vernacular daily in this regard, Mr Stalin saidthe US tariff hike has put thousands of jobs at risk.
"The US Tariff hike to 50% has hit Tamil Nadu's exports hard, especially Tiruppur's textile hub, causinga trade impact of nearly Rs.3,000 crore and putting thousands of jobs at risk", he said.
