Chennai, March 13 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday inaugurated the first 660 megawatt (MW) unit of the 2x660 MW supercritical thermal power project at Udangudi in Tuticorin district.

The inauguration was conducted via video conferencing from the state secretariat in Chennai.

The 1,320 MW project, with an estimated investment of about Rs 13,077 crore, is owned by Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Ltd. The first unit was synchronised to the grid in September 2025.
