Mumbai, July 7 -- An initial police investigation into the alleged suicide of a State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) jawan inside the high-security Maharashtra Raj Bhavan has revealed that he was reportedly under severe emotional distress after a woman constable, his colleague, rejected his marriage proposal, officials said on Tuesday.

The deceased, identified as Kaustubh Sangle, attached to SRPF Group-16, Kolhapur, allegedly died by suicide while on guard duty at Lok Bhavan, the Governor of Maharashtra's official residence in Malabar Hill, on Sunday evening.
