Mumbai, July 7 -- A jawan of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) allegedly died by suicide inside the premises of the Maharashtra Lok Bhavan, the official residence of the Governor of Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.
According to officials from Malabar Hill Police Station, the incident occurred at around 8:30 pm on Monday while the deceased, identified as Kaustubh Sangle, attached to SRPF Group-16, Kolhapur, was on guard duty at Lok Bhavan within the high-security Raj Bhavan complex in Malabar Hill.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Sangle used his service rifle while on duty. Security personnel rushed to the spot after hearing a gunshot but found him lying in a pool of blood. He was declared dead at the scene.
