Chennai, April 5 -- Southern Railway has concluded the 2025-26 fiscal with exceptional performance across all key sectors, surpassing several targets set by the Railway Board and recording significant year-on-year growth in passenger and freight segments.
On record breaking passenger performance, Railway officials said the zone witnessed a notable growth in passenger traffic, carrying a record-high of 7,676.44 lakhs originating passengers during the period.
This represents a robust 4.9% growth over the previous year's figure of 7,318.62 lakhs and exceeds the Railway Board's target of 7,625.80 lakhs by 0.7%.
