Galle, Aug. 18 -- Experienced Sri Lankan batter Dinesh Chandimal has been taken to hospital for a precautionary scan after sustaining a shoulder injury while fielding against India on Day 4 of the first Test here on Tuesday.
Chandimal was stationed at deep midwicket when he sprinted towards deep square in an attempt to prevent a boundary. He dived to make the stop but landed heavily on his shoulder, appearing to injure his right shoulder in the process.
The 36-year-old was immediately attended to by his teammates and the team medical staff after appearing to be in considerable discomfort. He was eventually able to walk off the field, clutching his head, neck and shoulder, according to ICC.
