Kolkata, June 24 -- A squall lashed parts of Kolkata with a wind speed gusting at 75 kilometres per hour, uproting trees, on Tuesday,The squall that lasted for about one minute, left a trail of broken branches in the central parts of the city. A huge broken branch of a tree near Victoria House disrupted vehicular traffic towards Bentinck Street for a while.
Another part of a tree came crashing down near The Statesman Building while two more were spotted on the sides of the road in front of Tipu Sultan Mosque. A smaller branch was found near .KC. Das crossing as well. Broken branches were also spotted in parts of Park Street, High Court, Outram Road, Tollygunge, Kiran Shankar Roy Road and Bidhan Market.
