Rampur, July 18 -- The plea of jailed Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan was rejected by the Special Court in a case related to his alleged use of the term "Tankhaiya" for an official during an election rally held in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The MP-MLA Special Court (Sessions Trial) dismissed Azam Khan's appeal against the two-year sentence awarded by the lower court.
The court on Saturday upheld the lower court's order, including the sentence and fine imposed on him.The case dates back to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, when Azam Khan allegedly made controversial remarks against officials from the stage at a public meeting held in Mankara village under the Bhot police station area.
