Lucknow, June 23 -- Uttar Pradesh government has issued orders to effectively regulate coaching institutes operating across the state and launch a special campaign against illegal coaching centers.

The order comes in wake of the major fire in a coaching centre in Lucknow on Monday in which 15 people were killed and 9 others injured.

UP Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said here on Tuesday that all District Magistrates have been instructed to conduct a comprehensive survey of all coaching institutes operating in their districts and prepare a list.

"Strict action should be taken against those institutions that are not registered under the Uttar Pradesh Coaching Regulation Act, 2002, as per the rules," he said.
