Chennai, Aug. 17 -- Sparks flew in the Tamil Nadu Assembly between the ruling TVK and the Opposition DMK members over the dignity and protocol of the House when Forest Minister RV Ranjithkumar referred to former Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi by his name during the debate on the demands for grants for the Health and Revenue departments, on Monday.
This triggered instant opposition from the DMK members and took objections to the Minister's remarks.
An unwritten convention has been followed in the Assembly that former Chief Ministers, including M Karunanidhi and J Jayalalithaa,are referred to with due respect rather than by their names.
