Madrid, Sept. 3 -- Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez today denied accusations that his government ignored warnings of an impending mass border crossing from Morocco into the Spanish exclave of Ceuta amid growing criticism of his handling of the migrant crisis.
An estimated 72,000 people crossed into Ceuta during the July 30-31 incident. Dozens died and thousands remained in the exclave, with an estimated 10,000 migrants still there.
Addressing parliament here, Sanchez said the government had received no "alerts or special notices" ahead of the mass crossing.
