Ceuta, July 31 -- Spain's Ministry of Interior repatriated over 25,000 migrants from the North African enclave of Ceuta to Morocco as authorities sought to regain control of the territory after an unprecedented surge in arrivals, the Interior Ministry said on Friday.
The ministry said more than 150 migrants were being repatriated every minute, shortly after Ceuta regional president Juan Jesus Vivas estimated that around 60,000 people had entered the Spanish territory in recent days.
Vivas said at least 34 people had died during the crossings, including several who drowned while attempting to swim into the enclave from Morocco.
