Bengaluru, April 19 -- Warning that southern states could lose representation when delimitation is undertaken based on the 2027 census, Tejasvi Surya on Sunday criticised the opposition for resisting proposed reforms linked to the Women's Reservation Bill.

He said states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala stand to be the worst affected in terms of reduced parliamentary representation, arguing that opposition to the proposed 50 per cent increase in seats would only aggravate the imbalance.

Surya alleged that parties opposing the move, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, would have to answer to the people for their stance, as the increase in seats was aimed at protecting proportional representation across regions.
