Seoul, March 6 -- South Korea has secured emergency supplies of more than six million barrels of crude oil from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) amid the ongoing Middle East crisis and disruption in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik said on Friday.
Kang said the arrangement was finalised during discussions with the UAE authorities on behalf of President Lee Jae-myung to ensure stable energy supplies.
"Acting for the president, we discussed measures with the UAE leadership to secure oil imports and confirmed the emergency delivery of more than six million barrels," Kang told a press briefing.
