London, May 24 -- Sophie Devine played the defining role in New Zealand's 14-run win over England in Canterbury.
The 36-year-old star hit 87 not out off 57, which was her highest-ever score against England, and set the base for a comprehensive 170/5 in the first innings.
Earlier in the innings, Lauren Bell and Linsey Smith had combined to rattle the New Zealand top-order and leave them at 11/4.Devine rescued the innings with a 159-run stand with Maddy Green (56 not out). This is the highest-ever partnership for any wicket for New Zealand in Women's T20Is. This was also the second-highest partnership for the fifth-wicket in all T20Is.
