Glasgow, July 25 -- India's campaign in the men's singles lawn bowls event suffered a major blow after Asian champion Putul Sonowal went down to Malaysia's Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple in a crucial Section D clash, leaving his semifinal hopes hanging by a thread.

Sonowal, who had won his opening two sectional matches to stay unbeaten, suffered his first defeat of the competition, losing 8-4, 9-8 to the in-form Malaysian, who maintained his perfect record and tightened his grip on the top spot in the group.
