Varanasi, Jan. 23 -- The crackdown on the illegal trade of codeine-based, banned cough syrup in Uttar Pradesh has intensified, drawing attention from the streets to the legislature.
Sonbhadra Police on Friday began proceedings to seize assets worth approximately Rs 28.50 crore belonging to the main accused, Bhola Prasad Jaiswal, in Varanasi.
The action is being carried out in the Bhelupur police station area, particularly in Mahmoorganj, with Varanasi Police also present on the spot.
According to officials, properties located in the Bhelupur, Sigra, and Chetganj areas of the city are being seized as part of the operation.
