Doha, Jan. 20 -- Somalia and Qatar on Monday signed a defence cooperation agreement in Doha aimed at strengthening military ties and security collaboration between the two countries.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, and Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani.

The defence cooperation agreement focuses on military training, the exchange of expertise, the development of defence capabilities, and enhanced security cooperation, in support of efforts to promote regional security and stability.
