Bhopal, June 25 -- Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav today directed the use of solar energy in the irrigation system under the Narmada Valley project.
Yadav said this while chairing the 267th meeting of the Narmada Valley Development Authority at the Chief Minister's residence.
The Chief Minister emphasised that Narmada River is the lifeline of the state and the activities under the Narmada Valley Development Authority have led to a significant increase in irrigation area and power generation, improving the living standards of the people.
He directed that the use of solar energy be promoted in the irrigation system under the project to reduce expenditure on electricity.
