Solapur, Nov. 9 -- The Solapur City Traffic Police have launched a crackdown on noise pollution and illegal vehicle modifications, seizing 501 vehicles and collecting fines amounting to Rs 7.66 lakh during a four-day enforcement campaign.

The operation, conducted within city limits, specifically targeted motorcycles fitted with aftermarket silencers generating excessive noise and vehicles carrying unauthorised or decorative number plates.

Officials said that the intensive enforcement drive was undertaken to address the growing menace of noise pollution and non-compliance with traffic regulations.
