Arvind KashyapSolan, Aug. 25 -- The Students' Federation of India (SFI) has announced it will intensify its statewide agitation against the government, protesting sharp fee hikes in educational institutions, persistent youth unemployment, and stalled government recruitment exams.

Issuing a stern ultimatum to the authorities, the left-wing student outfit declared that it will lay siege to the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on August 31 and September 1 if immediate corrective steps are not taken.

Addressing mediapersons on Tuesday, SFI District General Secretary Rohit Pradhan criticized what he called "the relentless commercialization of education" in the state.
