Shimla, Jan. 26 -- Heavy snowfall in Manali and Shimla during the extended weekend brought tourism to a grinding halt, leaving thousands of visitors stranded for hours without adequate food, warm clothing, or shelter.
What initially drew tourists in large numbers turned into an ordeal as road connectivity collapsed and traffic management failed to cope with the rush.
Manali received nearly two feet of fresh snow, while adjoining areas were also buried under heavy accumulation.
