Kangra, Sept. 15 -- Six pilgrims were rescued after they got stranded in a stream near Banganga Ghat here following a sudden rise in water level due to rainfall in the upper reaches, officials said.
The pilgrims had ventured into the middle of the stream to bathe when the water level suddenly rose, leaving them stranded on a dry patch. They raised an alarm, following which a team of the Fire Department and Kangra Tehsildar Prakash Chand Thakur reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.
After nearly 30 minutes of efforts, all six pilgrims were safely evacuated.
