Bhubaneswar, May 22 -- At least six persons, including women and children of a family, were killed and four others injured on Friday after a speeding private bus rammed into an auto-rickshaw in which the ill-fated victims were travelling to a shakthi shrine, near Ladakapalli traffic junction under Purushottampur police station jurisdiction in Odisha's Ganjam district.
The occupants of the overloaded auto-rickshaw were on a pilgrimage trip to Maa Singhasini shrine when the fatal road accident took place, allegedly due to reckless driving on the part of the bus driver.
While three died on the spot, equal numbers of pilgrims succumbed to injuries later at nearby Kodala hospital.
