Chennai, July 24 -- In a development that underscores the growing global shift towards skills-based hiring, six Japanese engineering and technology companies have recruited 12 engineering students from IIT Madras, IIT Mandi and a private university in Chennai for specialised technology roles in Japan, choosing candidates based on demonstrated technical competencies rather than conventional resume-based screening.
The recruitment for engineering talent, specially for core sectors like semiconductors, EV and manufacturing are causing shortages in key streams prompting companies to start their recruitment activities as early as August, according to a press release.
