New Delhi, Sept. 12 -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday stressed the need for a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian cause based on a two-state solution and relevant international resolutions.

The two leaders met on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, where they also discussed efforts to end the war in Gaza, the Iran war and the situation in Sudan.

El-Sisi briefed Putin on Egypt's efforts to advance the implementation of the second phase of an agreement aimed at halting the war in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.
