Prayagraj, Jan. 7 -- Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has slammed the opposition parties for opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and has claimed that the opposition's propaganda will have no effect as everyone wants an accurate voters list.
He stated that elections should be held with an accurate voter list, as that is the true form of democracy.
Regarding the opposition's claim that the SIR process will harm the BJP the most, the Deputy CM said that this will only become clear in the 2027 assembly elections.
The draft electoral roll under the SIR process was released in UP yesterday in which the names of 28.9 million voters have been deleted from the voter list in the state.
