SIR exercise suspended in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills due to law and order

Shillong, Aug. 25 -- Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Brahma Deo Ram Tiwari on Tuesday said the scheduled hearings of claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise across 14 assembly constituencies in East Khasi Hills has been suspended due to the prevailing law and order situation.

He said the affected electors have been advised to await further communication from the concerned election officials regarding fresh dates of hearing.

"The affected electors may remain in contact with theirrespective Block Level Officer (BLO)/Electoral Registration Officer (ERO)/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) for updates," Tiwari said.
