Washington, Dec. 2 -- Simon Cowell has expressed regret over how he treated contestants during his early years on American Idol. Known for his sharp tongue and biting critiques, the longtime judge has now openly apologised for his past behaviour toward aspiring singers.

In an interview with Deadline, Cowell admitted that he feels uncomfortable watching old clips in which he delivered personal insults. He reflected on those early seasons, explaining that much of his bluntness stemmed from pressure to deliver strong talent or risk the show being cancelled.
