Siliguri, July 23 -- The death toll in the NHPC Teesta Stage VI Hydropower Project tunnel disaster in Sikkim has risen to 22, as rescue operations continued through the night with specialised teams battling extremely challenging conditions inside the collapsed tunnel.
A second rescue team from Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), Asansol, reached the site at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday and immediately joined the operation.
'Rescue personnel worked relentlessly until midnight in a coordinated effort to locate and recover the remaining trapped workers, District Information Officer, Namchi, said.
