Kolkata, June 9 -- Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee skipped summons from West Bengal police's Criminal Investigation Department for the third time on Tuesday in connection with the MLAs' signature forgery case.
Banerjee has been avoiding appearance before the CID in the case since May 30.
A team of CID officers on Monday visited Banerjee's residence in South Kolkata's Kalighat and served a notice asking him to depose before the state agency at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
However, Banerjee sent a letter to CID headquarters Bhavani Bhavan during the day and sought more time saying he would not be able to appear now as he was not in Kolkata, sources said.
