Koppal (Karnataka), June 25 -- The inauguration of newly rebuilt crest gates at the Tungabhadra reservoir has sparked a political controversy in Karnataka, with supporters of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressing disappointment over his absence from the official function.
The issue has drawn attention as Siddaramaiah, who was Chief Minister when the reservoir's 19th crest gate was washed away during heavy rains in 2024, was credited with overseeing emergency measures to restore the structure and later sanctioning the complete reconstruction of all 33 crest gates at a cost of about Rs 51 crore.
