Shimla, July 13 -- Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday directed officials to expedite the construction of the 450 MW Shongtong-Karchham hydroelectric project in Kinnaur district to ensure its commissioning by March-April 2027, saying the project would significantly strengthen Himachal Pradesh's clean energy capacity and economy.
Chairing a high-level review meeting of the Energy Department here, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the project being constructed on the Satluj river and said nearly 80 per cent of the powerhouse construction had already been completed.
