Hyderabad, April 19 -- union Minister of State for Labour & Employment and MSME Shobha Karandlaje on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Congress and the INDIA alliance, accusing them of betraying women and South India by opposing key legislations such as the Women's Reservation Bill and the Delimitation Bill.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office in Nampally, she termed April 17 as a "black day" for the country, alleging that the opposition celebrated the failure of the Bills.

She said the Centre introduced delimitation alongside the Women's Reservation Bill to safeguard the interests of South India, particularly in view of declining population trends due to successful population control measures.
