Bengaluru, July 11 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday struck a strong nativist note, declaring that the Congress government's "first priority is Kannadigas" as he warned against migrants from other states occupying Bengaluru's footpaths and public spaces for business.

Personally reviewing the city's anti-encroachment drive under "Operation Footpath", the Chief Minister said the government would not tolerate unauthorised occupation of public spaces and made it clear that protecting the interests of Karnataka's residents would take precedence.
