Bengaluru, May 21 -- Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday asserted that he had "never asked for wages" for the work done for the Congress party, as he launched a sharp attack on senior MLA KN Rajanna over his remarks concerning the chief minister's post amid renewed leadership buzz in the ruling party.

The remarks came after Rajanna reportedly stated that Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara deserved to become Chief Minister ahead of Shivakumar in view of his long tenure as Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president. Rajanna also reportedly said that Parameshwara could have become Chief Minister in 2013 had he not lost the Assembly election.
