Bengaluru, Sept. 1 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday opened the door to a rethink of the controversial Parks (Preservation) Amendment Bill, 2026, while turning the spotlight on how successive governments have used Bengaluru's green spaces for public infrastructure.
Shivakumar said the provision allowing up to five per cent of park and garden land to be used for public infrastructure could be discussed again in the Legislative Assembly, signalling a possible review of the amendment amid mounting protests.
At the same time, the Chief Minister said he would examine why the provision was introduced and what previous governments, including BJP regimes, had done with park land.
