Bengaluru, July 2 -- Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Thursday ordered a statewide review of quarrying operations and announced fresh safety guidelines after a stone quarry collapse in Bengaluru South, which initially claimed seven lives before the death toll rose to eight, triggered a major safety crackdown.

"We will issue fresh guidelines for quarrying activities across the state. I will ensure that no such incident occurs again," Shivakumar said after directing senior officials to visit the accident site and submit a detailed report.
